Free Open Water Swim Group

We are excited to offer this FREE opportunity to swimmers of all levels just looking for a great group of people to swim with weekly. This swim group is for adults only (18+ years old). All levels are welcome but these are not swim lessons so you must know how to swim comfortably. We also care very much about our beaches and oceans, so we occasionally do beach clean-ups at our swim sites. Whether you are newer to open water swimming or a professional marathon swimmer, you will fit in perfectly with this group.

Where Do These Free Swims Take Place?

Our free open water swim group meets at the beaches in Swampscott, MA. Swampscott is about 20 minutes north of Boston located on the North Shore of Massachusetts between Marblehead, Salem and Lynn. We usually swim at either Fisherman’s Beach or Phillips Beach depending on the conditions. The time and location that we will meet is emailed to the swim group email list every Thursday or Friday prior to the weekend we will be swimming. You can sign up for this email list with by filling out the contact form below.

Who Can Join These Open Water Swims?

Triathletes and open water swimmers of all levels can join the open water swim group. Our group organizer is Craig Lewin who is also the coach of Endurance Swimming. This is a great opportunity to get in a work out with an amazing community of like minded people!

How Much Does It Cost?

FREE! As these are just group swims and not structured workout being led by coaches, there is no cost. These swims are completely free!

What Gear Do I Need?

We do not require any gear but it is New England and the water is not that warm especially if you are new to open water swimming! The water will be anywhere from 35F to 65F depending on the month. We swim year round so the winter months are quite cold but by June the water will be over 50F. At a minimum you will probably want a comfortable wetsuit, a brightly colored swim cap and a few pairs of goggles with different tinted lenses. We also recommend having a brightly colored swim buoy. We have some that you can borrow but it is best to have your own.
